WHAT WE OFFER

BrightStore is a community-led social grocery store.

We partner with local and national suppliers to source surplus and donated high-quality food, including fresh fruit and veg, eggs and store cupboard staples, to offer a weekly affordable shop for our members at a fraction of what it would normally cost.

You pay a membership donation each time you shop, based on your household size and what you can afford.

Suggested donations for all members are:

£4 / Small (to feed one / two people)
£6 / Large (to feed more than two people)

We encourage members who feel they can pay more to do so. These solidarity payments will support members who are less able to pay the suggested donation. Read more about
solidarity.

We offer a friendly, welcoming and supportive environment for our members whether they are shopping or helping to run BrightStore.

You’ll get the chance to meet new people, learn new skills and make a posi
tive difference in your local community.

How do I become a member?

We are open to new members, but to manage weekly numbers we run a waiting list system. If you’d like to join:

1) Check that you are within a 20 minute walk of your nearest store.

(Everyone is welcome at BrightStore but we are a scheme designed to support local communities. If you don’t live near one of our stores, please check the B&H Food Partnership Directory to find a food scheme in your area. And do check back with us from time to time, as we may open a store near you in the future!)

2) If you do live near one of our stores, please add your details to our waiting list and we will contact you when a place in your local store becomes available.

Volunteer opportunities

Each store is run by members, for members from opening to closing. But we also welcome volunteers from the wider community so if you would like to volunteer to help run your local store, see our Get Involved page.
